Select the proper equipment for the desired function. Perform adequate system design audits. Thoroughly check out equipment on test stand. Thoroughly check out the installation on startup. Adequately monitor the vibration characteristics of the machinery and critical points in the piping system to ensure that vibration response is acceptable for continuous operation. Vibration surveys of all rotating and reciprocating equipment and associated piping systems on a regular basis is absolutely essential to ensure long-time plant reliability.
